Gratitude and the law of attraction are powerful forces that can bring your deepest desires to life if used correctly. I’ve been fascinated by the law of attraction since 2020 and since discovering it, have carried out spiritual practices, built rituals and immersed myself in the law’s teachings.

But, the law of attraction and its synonyms are becoming buzzphrases in today’s society. I recently walked into a bookshop to find a “Manifest” gift set sitting on the shelf. Now, people in all walks of life are “manifesting” outcomes (in the spiritual sense), as if the phrase is part of our day-to-day vocabulary, like shopping and eating. While this mainstream turn is positive, it makes me wonder whether people truly know what the law of attraction is and the steps required to manifest their desires.

This guide is based on my learnings to supercharge your knowledge and manifestations using gratitude and the law of attraction.

“Stopping to smell the roses is something that many of us forget to do in our fast-paced society, but finding the beauty in the day-to-day, especially during the harder moments, can transform your perspective and mood.”

Practicing gratitude: Can you manifest with gratitude?

Gratitude is a fundamental part of the law of attraction. It’s promoted, especially by older authors, as the key to unlocking abundance. The law of attraction has a chain effect. If you practice gratitude daily, it will help to build a positive mindset. The law of attraction’s guiding principle, like attracts like, suggests that positive thoughts will raise your emotional vibration. So, if you’re feeling positive, the positive vibrations will put you on the right frequency to manifest positive things.

Feeling grateful for what you have not only has a positive impact on your manifestation efforts, but can improve your outlook on life. Stopping to smell the roses is something that many of us forget to do in our fast-paced society, but finding the beauty in the day-to-day, especially during the harder moments, can transform your perspective and mood. I believe the law of attraction and intentional living align in this regard.

Check in with yourself and your emotional vibration. What are you feeling? Are you feeling joy, happiness, contentment, boredom, worry, anger or even depression? It’s important not to judge your feelings and instead, acknowledge them and take steps to improve your vibration. Can you go for a walk, paint a picture or call a loved one, or do you require help that’s deeper rooted, such as learning how to overcome perfectionism?

Ways to practice

Typically, each person has their own collection of rituals for manifestation. While it can be incorporated into the day-to-day lives of many without disruption to the physical calendar, bear in mind that the law of attraction can expel a lot of energy in the beginning. If this is your first time learning about gratitude and the law of attraction, there are a few easy ways to practice:

Set clear goals

Do you have a vision for your life in five, 10 or 20 years? If you don’t, begin by writing a list of your deepest desires for the future in your favourite notebook or journal. If you need some help, start small by visualising your life five years from now. What are you doing? Who are you with? Where are you living? What can you smell and hear? Do you have a job, hobby and favourite outfit? Consider the key elements of your visualisation and write down the corresponding goals. Practice visualising your future as if it has already come to life, and focus on the emotion it evokes when you think about it.

As an advocate for intentional living, I must caveat that you shouldn’t spend every waking moment in the future, either – I’ve certainly been there in the past. Remember when I said that people can forget to stop and smell the roses? Wishing away your time and not appreciating what’s in front of you can lower your emotional vibration, which brings me to the next action.

A gratitude journal

Writing in a gratitude journal is, in my opinion, the most sacred practice of all in the law of attraction. This practice will help you to feel more positive and reach the highest vibration for manifesting. Again, you don’t need to buy a specific journal with prompts – a lined journal or notebook will allow you to express gratitude without boundaries.

To start a gratitude journal, write a list of things you’re grateful for and why you’re grateful for them, every day. You can write as many points as you want to, but typically, three to 10 is what people aim for (Cue The Magic by Rhonda Byrne, which you can buy from Amazon). Be sure to sit with the feeling of gratitude and thank your creator, whether that’s the universe, God or something else.

Take inspired action

Now, it’s time to indicate that you’re ready to receive your goals by taking inspired action. Put simply, it’s about taking baby steps toward your goal until the next step unfolds.

If you’re looking for a job, you could update your CV, contact a recruiter and take a new headshot for LinkedIn. If you want to buy a house, you could find a mortgage advisor, book an appointment with them and open a savings account for the house deposit.

Inspired action encourages opportunities, and opportunities bring the manifestation to fruition. My biggest goal was to buy a house in my 20s, but I deemed it financially impossible to buy a house in London. After doing The Magic, I put out an inquiry for a mortgage advisor and before I knew it, my boyfriend and I had a mortgage in principle to buy a house in London – I’m sitting in it right now. Remember, anything is possible when you put one step in front of the other.

A vision board

Although it’s not mandatory, a vision board is a creative visualisation tool that’s essentially a collage of your wildest dreams. It’s up to you how you make one, whether it’s on a physical board that can be hung up in your home, in your notebook or journal, or digitally, such as on Pinterest. I’m old school and stick magazine cut-outs into the pages of my journal every year, but do what feels right for you and try to look at it as often as you can.

Positive affirmations

Positive affirmations are self-empowering statements that are written in the present tense. For example, if you wanted to manifest a new job with better company culture, your affirmation could be, ‘I look forward to going to work every day’. If you want to manifest a regular income stream, it could be ‘Money flows to me effortlessly’. Whatever your affirmation, try to be as specific as possible.

Practicing affirmations can be incorporated into your morning or evening routine. Repeat them daily in a peaceful environment, such as the bathroom when you’re getting ready for the morning, and believe in their truth.

Alternatively, subliminal affirmations, or subliminals, are an effortless way of incorporating positive affirmations into your routine. The affirmations are recorded behind relaxing music to enter your subconscious mind. They are a perfect solution for busy women as you can play them as you work or sleep. I’ve got subliminals on as I type this blog post!

Meditation

Meditation is a grounding technique to bring you back to Self. it’s up to you how you implement it, from five minutes of silence to relieve stress before you start work, to my personal favourite of guided meditation for specific outcomes. Whatever I’m looking to achieve in my life, I search for a meditation that suits my requirements. For example, when I was job hunting, I would habitually listen to a meditation that focused on finding a dream job.

Gratitude manifestation examples

I’ve used the law of attraction to move to London, manifest a job (twice), buy a house and make a friend in my local community. But, the power of gratitude truly came into play after I started the first job I manifested. The job wasn’t what I expected and I suffered from burnout. Why? Because I let go of my law of attraction practices from the moment I was offered the job.

The Magic was sitting on my bookshelf and after two months of despair, I started the gratitude practice. Not only did it result in me finding happiness in my job, but I saved £495 on a service I needed and was given freebies left, right and centre. Most importantly, my mood improved and I felt grateful for the life I had.

How to thank the universe, God or your creator

Firstly, congratulations on using the law of attraction to manifest your desire. Thanking the universe, God or your creator is often an overlooked step in a bid to move on to the next big goal.

So don’t overlook it – it’s time to celebrate your goal! Go out for dinner, toast a glass of champagne and thrive in the afterglow of your manifestation success, sister.

Gratitude and the law of attraction resources

I’ve mentioned it in a previous blog post, but the Deluxe Law of Attraction 12-Month Planner by Freedom Mastery is the most powerful tool I have ever used in my law of attraction journey. It goes beyond a gratitude and manifestation journal, and has pages brimming with exercises to help you determine your goals, intentions, manifestation progress and results. Plus, it includes blank bullet pages to write notes and journal entries from other sources within the diary, keeping your law of attraction learnings in one place.

Also mentioned, The Magic by Rhonda Byrne is a transformational 28-day gratitude practice that I recommend every beginner in the law of attraction completes. As I mentioned earlier, you can buy it from Amazon.

I absolutely adore this post Lucie. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together. I created a vision board on New Years Eve and it’s been life changing. It’s so inspiring and motivational.
I’ve now bought ‘The Magic’ and even wrote down in my notebook to look into subliminal affirmations, so thank you for the inspiration. I’m glad I found your blog through Twitter xxx

Such a great post. It does feel like ‘manifesting’ is becoming a bit of a buzz word, so it’s brilliant to have it broken down with some guidance. Awesome to hear how it’s worked for you, and the watch out to not stop practicing gratitude!
I’m going to create a vision board this weekend now! 🙌
