Do you dream of moving to a new house? Whether it’s a dream when you sleep, a daydream, or a deep-rooted desire, it might be a sign that you’re ready to take action.

Sisters, I’ve moved house! Selling and buying a house concurrently is no mean feat – the exchange and completion happened so fast that I still have outstanding tasks on my dream house checklist. Rest assured, I’m working through them, albeit with grace and kindness to myself after a bumpy journey.

I’m pleased to be writing again. My internet was installed this week after a long delay – the previous owners didn’t have internet, so it turned into quite the task for the engineer to connect us. But, I’m back and taking inspired action to write, taking lessons from my own experience to support your moving journey with my dream house series – wherever you are in the process.

My story

From the bottom of my heart, I understand what it’s like to dream of moving to a new house. Almost four years ago, I confronted my inner fears and relocated from my home county to London – a lifelong dream that came to fruition through the law of attraction. My years in the big city were filled with spiritual and personal growth, including a sabbatical in America and buying my first home with my partner, Tom, in a suburb of South East London.

I was thrilled to be on the property ladder. But, still, I couldn’t shake the feeling that the house felt temporary. While I liked the area we had moved to, it felt far away, unfamiliar and different to living in the inner city, where most people were newcomers and I could identify with that pack. In the suburbs, I felt like a visitor in someone else’s town. Plus, my priorities were fast-changing – mentally, I was moving away from the hustle culture of my nine-to-five job and practising a more intentional and peaceful existence.

I made it work and created a routine that worked for me, which included taking an online blogging course and launching Intentional Lucie. But, I realised I was ready to align my physical reality with my desires – to return to my roots and find peace, near home. So, after multiple conversations and defying the odds of what I believed was possible, I write to you from the dining table of my breakfast room in my dream country home, cherishing a sense of belonging as the person that, I believe, is the truest version of myself.

Why are you dreaming of moving to a new house?

With my story in mind, understanding your “why” for wanting to move to a new house is crucial. A romantic at heart, I know that dreams to move can come from a place of love and connection, for example. Or, like my move to London during the pandemic, they can come from a place of freedom or self-discovery.

There’s a new chapter to be written with every move and therefore, no right or wrong decision. I will say, however, that you should go with your gut instinct and not let your ego get in the way of your decision. I fell into that trap – telling myself that it was “too soon to move” and that I was “locked into a mortgage”, because I didn’t want to be perceived as having made a mistake. It wasn’t until the new year rolled around and I determined my goals that, being true to myself, moving was all I wanted and more.

Equally, it’s important to do the inner work to establish if the move is really your dream, or if it comes from a place of boredom or dissatisfaction with other circumstances in your life. To help, I would suggest reading my blog post on the law of attraction, which contains exercises to help you get to the roots of your desires.

Fulfilling your dream of moving to a new house

If you’ve established that it’s your time to move house and feel called to take the next step, I’m excited for you and your family, sister. From experience, I believe that you can take three key steps to put you on the homeward bound.

Manifest your new house

If you’re already dreaming about moving house, manifesting the move will be the fun part of achieving your goal – you might already be doing it! Firstly, you’ll need to get on the right vibration to manifest your desire, so be sure to do the groundwork to raise your vibration if you need a boost. Manifesting from a place of lack won’t be productive, nor will moving house from a place of lack, as your desire won’t come from your truest self.

Small mindset shifts can help you to appreciate the house that you already have and work wonders in preparing you for, what can be, a confronting period of change. I regularly visualised the house I wanted to live in, including the rooms I would spend the most time in, who was living with me and what my life would be like living there, including my participation in hobbies and interests. I wrote the story of my new reality in a few paragraphs as a diary entry, 10 years into the future, and read it often to remind myself of where I was going. Truly, I immersed myself in the world of moving, reading novels based in the countryside and searching for local activities in my new area. Combined, these activities put me on the right vibration, which helped me alongside the next step – taking action.

Make a plan and take action

There’s “action” in the law of attraction, so it’s important to take steps in the physical reality to achieve your dream of moving to a new house. For Tom and I, this was a call with our mortgage advisor to map out the next steps. On the call, we established the next clear action, which was to get valuations on the house we were living in. Next, we onboarded an estate agent and booked the photographer to take photos of our home, before it was put on the market.

The point is that taking one momentous step is what propels the goal forward. As in, the step I took to email my mortgage advisor propelled me to be sitting in my new home today.

Go with your gut

When we were searching for our onward purchase, friends told me to go with my gut. Now, I understand why – because it’s imperative for inner peace. We viewed three properties – all of which were potential goers. But, walking through the house I’m living in now, I felt an immense connection. I loved the flow, the light, the period features and the open space. I stood in the pantry and could see myself in 10 years with my apron on, choosing my ingredients to bake biscuits. But, while it ticked nearly every box, it had a shared driveway that I struggled to look past, which led to an unnecessarily stressful countdown to making a decision.

I mentioned earlier that going with your gut is important during the decision-making process. I was overcome with fear about making an informed decision, bogging myself down with practicalities that, in the grand scheme of things, didn’t need to be considered that heavily. Trust yourself and pay attention to your instinct – it’s more powerful than you think.

I hope my blog post is useful, and I wish you all the success and happiness in fulfilling your dream of moving to a new house. Please, share your dream in the comments or by contacting me – I’d be blessed to hear it.
